About the instructor

Lauri Jokinen has been training in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu since 1988. He has been one of the most important figures in bringing Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu to Finland and continues to work endlessly for the art. He travels to Japan 2-4 times every year to train with Hatsumi Soke and the Shihan. What he teach is always fresh from the current Japan trainings. Shawn was teaching Taihenjutsu ukemi, breakfalling. Sanshin no kata, five basic movements which can be said to be the roots of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, it is also very important basics from Gyokko-ryû. The Gyokko-ryû techniques Kô, Shunu, Shunsoku, Iaifuji was also taught with a lot of variations, both without weapons and also with weapons, mainly the long staff (Gyokko-ryû Bôjutsu). This DVD is from two extra trainings at Kaigôzan Dôjô during Kaigousuru 2005 Taikai.

The Thursday training theme was “how to defend yourself if one arm is injured and you can’t use it at all”, this session also finished of with some defences against knife attacks. The training was led by Ed Martin, Sheila Haddad and Shawn Gray who all are well known and respected instructors in Bujinkan Dojo.

The second part of this DVD is from the extra training after Kaigousuru with Shawn Gray only. The theme was Rokushaku Bôjutsu, many variations and ideas on how to defend against someone taking control of your staff and then attacks. Principles and ideas from Gyokko-ryû and this years Bujinkan theme was also covered in detail.

This is a seminar after a three week training trip to Japan (March-April 2004). Mats is teaching Roppô Kuji no Biken (advanced sword techniques), mainly techniques and feelings from what Hatsumi Sensei taught during this trip.

Also sword basics, how to hold the sword properly, and techniques how to learn the basic cutting, handling the sword and more.

Ukemi, Sanshin no kata, and Toride Kihon Goho (Kihon Happo) was also taught.

Elias taught Kihon Happou with Juppou Sesshou feeling. Dean spoked and talked about basic principles in combat. Mats taught the Kunai Kata with help from Onni Koskinen and Ed. Thomas taught Taijutsu and Kunai. Ed taught ten breathing excercises and knife defense. Sveneric taught Bajutsu, Kunai and Sanshin no Kata. Lubos taught Kunai and Taijutsu. Michael Clysén taught Ten Ryaku no Maki techniques and Mariette did henka with the Kunai.

There was also a Q&A session, where the instructors talked about this years theme and much more.
