From New Products from Budo Shop Store by New Products from Budo Shop Store

Title: Keiko19 - Kukishin-ryu Dakentaijutsu Shoden, Chuden, Sabaki and Okuden no kata Instructors: Mats Hjelm Theme: Kukishin-ryu Dakentaijutsu Recorded: Recorded in Stockholm October 27-28th 2007 The instruction is in English Format: DVD/R- (it might not work on older DVD players! check your manual first!) 110 Minutes playing time. Shortly after returning from 3 weeks training in Japan with Soke and the Shihan, Mats held this seminar. This DVD contains all 48 basic taijutsu techniques from Shoden, Chûden, Sabaki and Okuden no kata. There is 12 basic techniques in each level, together with Shirabe-moguri kata (not covered in this dvd) the school consists of total 60 dakentaijutsu techniques. In the Shoden and Chuden level we learn how to dodge attacks through a series of throwing attempts, grab and punch situations, and defences against kicks and punches. The Sabaki level is characterized by a shorter distance and foot work is even more important. In the Okuden kata the opponent starts to resist and do more counters. The opponent is attacking more freely. We try to get him in to a bad position and then apply a technique from the lower levels. In Shirabe-moguri kata (the last level, not covered on this video) the defender is now so skilled that he have developed the ability to feel what the opponent will try to do before he starts doing it. Kukishin-ryû is a very complete system, if you study the basic techniques well you will have a good defence system against any kind of attacks. On the Keiko #18 dvd, the whole Shoden no kata is covered in much more detail! About the instructor Mats Hjelm started training in Bujinkan for the first time around 1983, but it wasn’t until 1986 he had the opportunity to start training more seriously under a Shidôshi. He attends around 20 seminars, go to Japan 2-3 times every year. Since he started training he never had a training break. He takes his budo training very seriously! If you want to sponsor a seminar or course, please don’t hesitate to contact him. For more information see his web site www.kesshi.com Note! The instructions is in English and there is no sub titles on this DVD

Sven at the YSTT2010

kumafrJune 10, 2010

From Shiro Kuma's Weblog by kumafr

My very good friend Sveneric Bogsater

Sveneric is one of my best friends. He is a very close student of sensei and has started the bujinkan even before I began training!

I consider Sven like my elder brother as his teachings are always full of wisdom and help me to improve my understanding of the art. I am privileged to teach with him quite often and this is always a great moment of learning, sharing and friendship.

Sven will share his knowledge with Peter, Pedro and myself at the YSTT once again this year in July. If you want to attend to the YSTT (see details on this blog’s pages) or register now there are a few places available.

Attend three days of training in Paris and learn from Sven and the “yûro shi tennô” as sensei called us.

29 days left to attend to the YSTT

Ten Chi Jin Ten

kumafrJune 10, 2010June 10, 2010

From Shiro Kuma's Weblog by kumafr

tenchijintenchijinten..

Your taijutsu is created by the steady study of the ten chi jin ryaku no maki program which contains all the basics of the nine schools of the bujinkan. All fundamentals have been regrouped  into one single syllabus in order to give the beginners a chance to understand quickly what it is they have to learn and master.

But what is happening after you learnt the ten chi jin? You learn the schools,  you learn the weapons, you learn the juppô sesshô. In fact if you look at it carefully you should see the first stage  of your progression through the ten chi jin as the first circle of a metallic spring (see picture). Through the taihen kûden shinden succession we finish the first circle of learning and begin another one. This second cycle of learning begins with another ten but of a higher level.

Each circle is following the previous one and is linked to it. Life is similar, each action we take determines and/or influences our futures choices and actions.

To answer the original question as to know what is coming after the ten chi jin? the answer is always another ten and then another chi and jin, and so endlessly.
